Mystery and Melancholy of a Street by Giorgio de Chirico

Mystery and Melancholy of a Street

Form: the sightings of the formal elements of art  can be seen in this painting, such as connection of the art piece, is very sinister and can be mainly as seen in this painting, the colours altogether connect up and are all well matched. for example the colour of the seems to take on a sort of eerie strange look as well as the further included colours, the gold road, the light yellow/white building, which is the main feature. That the artist used a variety of colours, mainly tertiary colours in my opinion. the artist probably added such colours  for emphasised to continue the wired, eerie feeling of the painting. As if the art piece is like a poem, that artist is trying to add a rhyme,  for everything is well connected in this art piece, and to connect this piece the artists tends keep the colours in an organised manner as well as ordered and matched in there colour groups. The colours added in this painting applied in an particular area of the painting, in other words the colours aren't missed placed, unlike some surrealist art work that include strange pattens and figures it introduce weird and dream like atmosphere.

The painting introduces straight edge and curved shapes, for simple features for the corners of the buildings , the  shadows and to create the basic shape of the buildings even. Straight square curved shapes were probably added for the painting to seem realistic and still life,  however to change the way we see things and to add a twist to the every life. The surface of painting seems hard, though and rough, due to the fact of the material used to paint this piece oil canvas, because when applied the  oil creates a dry surface, unlike water colour which is flat when applied. judging  from the painting , this art work seems to be sized A1, for there isn't much detail painted within the painting. therefore there is not much to show, meaning a small sized canvas would be used.

Context: The work seems to relate to past decade of the 19 hundreds, although there are some features of this painting that date past this century, making the viewer to suggest a different date and age of time from the actual data of the creation'1914'. As i can tell the some of the figurers in this painting relate to the classical past, something which Giorgio  has , always included in this art works as well as interested in this specific period of time. As been identified this art piece was made by Giorgio de Chirico who was middle aged man when, during when he painted this painting. This work wasn't  always related to the time of the  Giorgio, as suggested above Giorgio had always had an interest of the classical past, however tried to include the both to created a sense of sorrow and sadness, because the connection of the both created a mysterious sighting towards the viewer. The work seems to take a influence in the sort of horror tragedy films of today, due to the dark gloomy look of the painting, which is associated with horror films as horror films tend to the same, for example  scenes are mainly based in a dark setting etc. As well the film relation another relation towards education section, which is the educational subject of music, in terms of classical music, as painting seems ongoing and contentious like music, especially like  classical music, a lack of emotion and movement, something that seems unenthusiastic  similar to  classical music.(In my opinion i think classical music is dull , however some are really good to listen too such as 'adagio for strings').
