Artist analysis:David with the head of Goliath
This image of violent imagery , and disturbing behavior suggest a sense of connection, mainly due to the overall dull color and mood, of the paintings, for example black, shades of brown, white and grays all suggest a similar connection of contrast and based , based towards the link of a certain dullness ,a lack of bright vibrant, may because , is trying to express a mood of horror and shock, an unsettling atmosphere. Colors you wouldn't really associate with the motion of happiness, but disaster and disappointment. A horrible feeling of tardy, maybe done so by the artist in order to express the mood and situation , in at the time , sadness ,horror the of the knowing of the unknown, hoping for the worst.
By the looks of this painting, its seems to suggest a sense of a solid color effect, due to the fact that the colors, are layered on to single brush strokes ,one filling of solid color, layers of paint painted on top of each other of the same color , used for that particular area. This technique method may have been applied due , to the style of art , uses more of an old fashioned and techniques of the time of the artist, are used to create a simple ,and a normal look, drawn almost to perfection , realistic and mirror like reflection.
This painting seems to have a hard and solid texture, with a bumpy sand uneven edges, feel on the painting , due to the fact of the material applied within this painting, which is oil on canvas , as oil leaves a permanent hard texture , when dried after use, creating a hardback feel to the surface, maybe created by the artist for the painting to , base upon , still life works and simple meaning, for the painting to effectively look less flowing, and only drawn to the slow movements within the painting, for example the lifting of the head , demonstrated by the artist.
